Fall color around the lake

High Rock Lake sits right on the edge of the Uwharrie Mountains in the North Carolina Piedmont. The lake's namesake, High Rock Mountain provides a dramatic and scenic backdrop to the water all year long but in the fall the changing leaves can be quite spectacular. There is something magical about an evening boat ride during a full moonrise. The experience is even better in the fall because there is less boat traffic and the moon reflects the perfect light to accentuate the radiant colors of the trees surrounding the lake.
